Cowboys and Muslims II

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005

I posted a joke about Cowboys and Muslims some time ago. Now comes the real deal: The Angry Arab Meets the Texas Cowboy by Austin Bay on Strategypage.com.

This is a stirring essay which demonstrates that common bond among men of all nationalities, the desire for individual liberty. Most Americans are born into and live their lives with a level of personal freedom and material comfort unparalleled in the history of nations and nation-states.

Bay reminds me that we don’t know how good we have it and the lofty ideal of spreading freedom to the ‘hard places’ of the word is now beginning to see the buds of real fruit in current events.

This is a great story for the age of the global neighborhood where east meets west and both come away richer for it.
